FC 27 is out, and its new football hangout comes with a platform catch

The group chat has a new reason to become very loud. There is another football season to start, another team to build, and probably another friend who will insist the controller caused that missed chance.

EA Sports FC 27 reached its worldwide launch on September 25. EA's launch announcement confirms versions for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.

Its big social addition is The Grounds, a shared football space that connects casual games and Clubs. Players can take part in kickabouts, face each other in one-on-one matches and develop their created footballer.

There is one detail worth checking before the whole friend group makes plans. The Grounds, including Clubs, is available only on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Switch 2. Having a version of FC 27 does not mean having every mode.

When did it unlock?

According to EA's launch timetable, the full PC release was set for September 24 at 23:00 UTC. That was 4:30 a.m. on September 25 in India. Console versions used midnight local time on September 25.

Some players were already on the pitch through early access. So launch day did not mean everyone was starting together with a completely blank record.

EA also describes changes to Ultimate Team, where players assemble squads using player items. The company says it is increasing the share of tradeable rewards and giving eligible matches more ways to contribute to club progress. Those are the developer's stated changes, rather than a promise that every player will enjoy the resulting balance.

Career Mode gets a rebuilt transfer market, while the new FUT Gallery lets players organise collections of items and earn rewards. Different parts of the game are aiming at different habits: competing, collecting, managing or simply playing with friends.

The playlist has its own season

The football is only part of the ritual. EA's soundtrack announcement lists 120 tracks from 36 nations, including music from Little Simz, The Strokes and Nia Archives.

The Grounds also has three districts inspired by English, French and Argentinian football culture, each with its own musical identity. The idea is to give the spaces a sense of place as well as another menu to click through.

For returning players, the real test will happen over repeated matches: how controls feel, how rewarding progress becomes, and whether friends keep coming back. A feature list can explain what is available. It cannot decide that experience for you.

For now, the season has opened. Check your platform, check the mode, then prepare for someone to demand a rematch.
