The promotion runs through September 26, but the offer depends on the product and retailer.

That game sitting on your wishlist has another chance to escape into your library. Nintendo of America’s Customer Appreciation Sale began on September 13, bringing discounts to a wide range of Switch games and related products in the United States.
Nintendo’s announcement promises 30% off dozens of Nintendo Switch digital games and bundles, alongside savings on selected physical games, downloadable content, accessories, amiibo and clothing. The promotion runs through September 26.
The sale covers Nintendo eShop, Nintendo Store and participating retailers. Nintendo says the products and offers can differ between those channels. So a discount shown in one store should not be treated as a promise that every other seller has matched it.
The official Customer Appreciation Sale page is the place to check the current selection. The headline percentage applies to the specified games and bundles, rather than an automatic reduction on everything carrying a Nintendo name.
There is also a basic distinction between a game, its extra content and a bundle containing both. A lower price on downloadable content is not the same as buying the main game. Checking the exact product before checkout can prevent a very avoidable moment of confusion later.
The company says the promotion was made possible partly by refunds related to tariffs, and says it absorbed most tariff-related costs. That is Nintendo’s explanation for the sale, rather than a detailed public accounting of how each discount was calculated.
Tom’s Hardware highlighted the difference between offering discounts and returning cash to earlier buyers. GamesRadar’s coverage made the same distinction. This event is a shopping promotion; it does not, by itself, put a refund into the account of someone who previously bought a console.
For players outside the US, location matters. This is a Nintendo of America promotion, so its announcement should not be read as confirmation that the same prices are available in every country or account region.
A discount is most useful when it applies to something you already wanted. If a game was never on your list, a smaller price tag does not suddenly create more free evenings to play it. The backlog, unfortunately, has no respect for a sale calendar.
For anyone checking the offers, the useful details are the final price, the edition, the supported system and what is included. Those tell you more than a large percentage on a banner, especially when games and extra content appear side by side.
